Entrepreneur Enrico Fava among the 25 new Cavalieri del Lavoro

Nominated by the President of the Republic Napolitano

On 15 October at the Palazzo del Quirinale the ceremony for the awarding of the Order of Merit of the Work was held to the Knights appointed on 2 June 2013.

Eng. Enrico Fava, along with other 24 Italian entrepreneurs, was awarded by the President of the Republic the title of Cavaliere del Lavoro. The ceremony opened with the speech of the President of the National Federation of Knights of Labor, Benito Benedini followed by that of the Minister of Economic Development, Flavio Zanonato. President Giorgio Napolitano intervened.

"It was a great emotion - said the new Cavaliere Fava - and I think it is the recognition of a life dedicated to work, business, the growth of a company and its people. I think this title also underlines the importance of continuously investing in innovation, quality, commitment, attention to the product and to the customer ".

Eng. Enrico Fava is president of the Fava manufacturer, founded in 1937 in Cento (FE), a family company, nowadays the third generation, specialized in the design, construction and marketing of complete systems for the production of pasta.

The Cavaliere Enrico Fava entered the family business in a very young age in 1956, mainly dealing with assembly and testing at major Italian and foreign pasta factories, dedicating himself in particular to finding solutions and innovations for the improvement of pasta drying.

Appointed general manager in the '70s and president in 1982, he started a comprehensive modernization, revising the commercial policies, adjusting the production units, strengthening the Research and Development area and creating an after-sales service that ensures that in any part of the world the technical assistance for their installations.

He is the holder of eight important patents and inventions, including the one relating to high-temperature treatment, an innovative technology that has revolutionized the sector since 1972. Thanks to this discovery and the successes achieved with his company, Enrico Fava was awarded an honorary degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ferrara in 2005.

An important milestone in the development of the business was the acquisition of 50% of the Storci company in Collecchio (PR), which, taken over in 1995 with a staff of 15 people, now has over 75 and with which the most important and high-performance presses in the sector have been designed and built.
 

Among the most significant milestones, in 1999 Fava completed the testing of the largest long pasta production line in the world.

The company has grown in terms of employment to reach the current 280 employees, while the plants cover a total area of 40,000 m2.

The volume of production is close to 100 million euros, over a third of the world market. Worldwide in the true sense of the word because the company, in addition to boasting about 85% of the total drying lines installed in the numerous Italian pasta factories, exports 90% of its products.

Numbers of record achieved thanks to the entrepreneurial aptitude of the Fava family, which has always focused on a precise mission, to invest in innovation and research. Specialized in the design and production of lines suitable to meet all the needs of the pasta industry, Fava manufactures lines for the production of long pasta, short pasta, but also special pasta on frames and lines for couscous, with potential ranging from 1000 to 10,000 Kg/h, counting among its customers all the main pasta factories in Italy and in the world and has recently expanded exports to various countries in Africa and the world. Middle East, in which there is a significant increase in the consumption of pasta.

Beyond the international vocation, however, the attachment to one's roots remains strong and constructive. Cav. Fava said he was flattered by the presence of the Prefect of Ferrara, Dr. Provvidenza Raimondo, who with his participation in the ceremony wanted to underline the importance of a company like Fava, present on the world market, but constantly rooted in the territory of the province of Ferrara since it was founded.
 

The industrial mentality, the passion for work and the love for the family (married to Bianca since 1960, he has three children Luigi and Riccardo who manage the companies of the group and Emanuela in charge of the marketing and communication sector) were the driving forces that guided Enrico Fava, with the precious contribution of his collaborators, who have always been recognized by the Cavaliere as indispensable for the strong and constant growth of a company,  always towards new important goals.

Values that today, with pride, he will carry forward in the well-deserved and prestigious position of Cavaliere del lavoro.
